Successful Summer Camp Kickoff Luncheon Held at New Gracanica Monastery
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Federation KOLO Sisters of the Serbian Orthodox New Gracanica Midwestern Diocese hosted a successful Summer Camp Kickoff Luncheon at the New Gracanica Monastery Camp Building. The event gathered dedicated members of local parish KOLOS, clergy, former campers, and community supporters to celebrate the mission of the summer camp and provide essential financial contributions to help offset camp costs.
The luncheon was graced by the presence of His Grace Bishop Seraphim, Archimandrite Sergije Puškar, the Iguman of the Monastery, and the Very Reverend Father Radovan Jakovljević, the Camp Director and Director of the Diocesan Department of Religious Education. Their support highlighted the importance of Orthodox Christian education and the spiritual formation provided through the camp experience.
Attendees enjoyed a beautifully prepared Lenten meal, lovingly served by dedicated KOLO members, camp committee members, and former campers and counselors. The luncheon not only created an opportunity for fellowship but also served as a platform to discuss the significance of the summer camp’s vision and mission.
The Orthodox Summer Camp at New Gracanica Monastery has long been a place for children and youth to deepen their faith, cultivate lasting friendships, and enrich their understanding of Orthodox Christian traditions. With a focus on liturgical worship, education, and community, the camp continues to serve as an invaluable resource for young Serbian Orthodox Christians.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone present, numerous contributions were made to help cover camp expenses, ensuring that more children can attend this spiritually enriching experience. The Federation KOLO Sisters expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported the event and emphasized their ongoing commitment to nurturing Orthodox youth through this vital ministry.
Following the success of the kickoff luncheon, excitement is mounting for the upcoming summer camp season, where faith, fellowship, and growth await another generation of Orthodox children.
