Akathist Service to St. Nectarios of Aegina

St. George Serbian Orthodox Church invites everyone to join us for a prayerful Akathist Service to St. Nectarios of Aegina, a beloved saint known throughout the Orthodox world as a healer and intercessor, especially for those fighting cancer and other serious illnesses.

We invite everyone to bring a list of sick and suffering family members, relatives, and friends so we can lift their names in prayer and seek the holy intercession of St. Nectarios before our Lord.

As we go through the Nativity Fast, this is a blessed chance to deepen our prayers, renew our compassion, and remember those who bear heavy burdens of pain, fear, or illness.

Why the Akathist?

The Akathist is one of the most cherished prayer services in the Orthodox Church—a hymn of praise said while standing, expressing our sincere love, gratitude, and supplication to God and His saints. Through the Akathist, the faithful unite to seek spiritual comfort, healing, and strength.

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him…” (James 5:14)

In keeping with this apostolic teaching, we come together as a community to pray for God’s mercy and healing for all who are suffering.

May this service bring hope, comfort, and spiritual healing to all who attend.
Everyone is welcome.
