Circle of Serbian Sisters Celebrate Slava at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church

The Circle of Serbian Sisters at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Schererville, Indiana, came together on Sunday, September 24, 2023, to celebrate their annual slava, which honors the Nativity of the Theotokos feast.
The day began with a profoundly spiritual start as the sisters gathered for the Divine Liturgy in the church. During the service, they also participated in a heartfelt memorial service dedicated to all deceased members of the Kolo organization, reflecting on their contributions to the community over the years.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the celebration continued at the Halls of St. George, where a special blessing of the slava bread took place. Attendees were treated to a sumptuous and delicious lunch, creating an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness.
The musical voices of the Bishop Lastavica choir resonated through the church during various parts of the event, enhancing the spiritual ambiance during the Divine Liturgy, parastos, and the blessing of the slava bread service.
Sonja Ogrizovich, the President of St. George Kolo sisters, expressed her gratitude to all the sisters for their unwavering support of the KOLO organization. In her address, she invited other parishioners to join the KOLO organization, emphasizing the importance of unity and shared purpose.

Father Radovan, the spiritual guide of the KOLO, delivered an inspiring message about the significance of the KOLO ministry within the life of the parish. He commended the dedication and love of the KOLO members in supporting various causes, such as aiding the local women’s monastery in New Carlisle, Indiana, assisting seminarians, contributing to Diocesan camp programs, and supporting the work of the Lifeline organization, among other parish needs and projects.
