St. George Serbian Orthodox Parish to Celebrate Church Slava

Schererville, Indiana- St. George Serbian Orthodox Parish is excited to announce its upcoming church slava celebration on May 12, 2024. This revered tradition, honoring the parish’s patron saint, St. George the Great Martyr, holds significant importance for Orthodox Christians worldwide.

Fr. Aleksandar Novakovic and parishioners from St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Merryville, Indiana, will join the festivities, promising a day of profound spiritual enrichment and unity.

The event will kick off with a sacred divine liturgy at 10:00 am, bringing worshippers together in communion with God and each other. Following the liturgy, a solemn procession around the church will pay homage to St. George, symbolizing the parish’s collective faith and devotion.

This year’s slava celebration kumovi are Mr. Momir and Mrs. Sladjana Keric of St. John, IN.

The festivities will culminate in a joyous banquet and program at the Halls of St. George, featuring cultural performances program and fellowship opportunities for all attendees.
